Quiz:
Rick Potter and Nicolette Ward had the correct answer. There are two types of membership: Active and Honorary.
Program:
The speaker was Bob Baldassari, golf pro at Cannon Ridge Golf Course. Here’s the description of the course from their web page:
On December 11, 1862 The Battle of Fredericksburg began. This battle started on the ridge above the Rappahannock River. The Union Army took camp there in preparation for battle. Along the banks of the river The Union Army setup cannons that gave cover fire for the troops during the battle. The fighting lasted for four days with General Lee driving out The Union for a Confederate victory. On this historic site Former PGA Tour Player/Commissioner Deane Beman and Renown Golf Course Architect Bobby Weed have teamed up to create a world-class golf facility. What was once a Civil War battle site, Beman and Weed have transformed into a great old style golf course. During your round of golf at Cannon Ridge Golf Club you will experience a piece of history with breath taking views, deep ravines, and historic cannon emplacements.
Bob told us that Cannon Ridge is the number three golf course of the over four hundred new golf courses in the US. It is one of the top ten golf courses in Virginia. There is a new chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association . Karen McCormack is a member of the EWGA. Call her about events and membership.
Bob said that many exciting new things are happening. The second golf course, Battleground Golf Course, will open soon. It will be a private course.
The new Celebrate Virginia Parkway will open June 24. The ground breaking for the new clubhouse will be held in May and should open by Thanksgiving. The Shrimp Fest will be held at Cannon Ridge on May 13. Coming in 2006 is the gondola that carries golfers and tourists across the river from Celebrate Virginia I. It will offer audio history tours.
The meeting ended with the Four Way Test.

Rotary Centennial
Centennial Bell
Similar to the traveling Olympic torch, five Rotary Centennial bells are circulating to clubs in every Rotary country, starting at the RI Convention in Brisbane, Australia, in June 2003. The bells' journeys will symbolize the internationality of Rotary as they crisscross the globe.
One bell will travel to the first 100 clubs to join Rotary International, while the others will travel to the first Rotary club formed in each country of four regions, according to RI archives: Asia and the Pacific; Latin American and the Caribbean; Africa; and Europe. Due to differences in shipping systems between countries in Africa, individual bells will be delivered by the district governors to the first clubs chartered in each country.
The bells' journeys will end in Chicago in June 2005 when they ring in the start of the centennial RI Convention.
2005 Chicago RI Centennial Convention Registration Online is now closed, but plan to attend the convention. You can still register in person in Chicago.
